We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz is a fantasy novel set in a different world but based around a country called Voulhire is such an enjoyable and suspenseful book to read. It is the first book of a fantasy series called We Are Voulhire. It tells the story of Galen, a refugee who arrives in the kingdom of Voulhire, a land of wealth, culture, and technology, but also of secrets, dangers, and conflicts. The book blends fantasy, science fiction, and adventure, with themes of identity, faith, and magic. It explores the challenges and opportunities of a changing world and the role of individuals in shaping it.

Galen Bray is the character to look out for, I most enjoyed reading about Galen and his travel to his uncle’s home. I loved that he was able to get away from the dangerous place where he was living and was now hoping to start a new peaceful life and managed to inherit a forge from his great-uncle. All Galen had ever learned was survival, so naturally, it takes a while for him to adapt to this new land. As he starts getting familiar with Voulhire’s way of life, he, along with his friend, Rowan, sets out to explore the empire, both completely unaware of the disastrous events occurring in the rest of the kingdom and they soon experience lots of unforeseen problems.

I enjoyed this read. I felt like it may have been too short because it read so quickly, but this may have also been because I was interested in the story and I wanted to keep going. This book deserves to be rated 5 out of 5 stars. It was well-edited and written beautifully. Death and violence are a part of humanity, and this story portrays all of humanity and its flaws perfectly.
