The Middle Reaches (Episodes 1–8), by L. Andrew Cooper. It is a fantasy and horror series that is available on Kindle Vella. It consists of 47 episodes so far because it is still broadcast; fortunately, you can get episodes 1–8 for free by cashing in a certain amount of tokens that the application gives you.

This is a story that is described and takes place in a disturbing place where time seems eternal and nature behaves in strange ways. Ten (10) years ago, Nick, Sheldon and his friends set out to one day visit The Middle Reaches to experience new adventures. That day, unexpected events occurred; strange things happened. The landscape changed. Everything became a nightmare. So finally, one of them never returned.

The story begins 10 years after visiting The Middle Reaches with a memory of Nick presented as a recurring nightmare. Next, Nick's friends meet for a reunion after having gone 10 years without visiting that place and talk about that day when many things happened that had no explanation, and Sheldon also disappeared.

It is an unconventional reading, very interesting and has many nuances that are explained as the plot progresses. I really liked the fact that each character narrates the events from their point of view. I also liked that data was added so that the reader could create their own idea of what really happened. And I love it even more that in the first few chapters, you're still not sure if everything they remember happened or not.

The book is very well written, described and set, so much so that you can share the emotions and sensations of the characters as the story unfolds. There is a scene in which something stings and gnaws at one of the characters, eating away at his skin. The author describes everything so neatly that I also felt like my body was itching, just as he described it in the series.

I don't have anything negative to mention. I just have to warn that it is a story with content that may be considered grotesque for many people. Before starting the series, the author shares an appropriate warning about the type of content that contains violence and graphic sexual content, as well as profanity. I recommend it for all those people of legal age who enjoy horror content with an erotic/supernatural tendency. For anyone who is uncomfortable with what is described above, I recommend that you refrain from reading this.

I'm happy to report that I did rate episodes 1–8 of this series 5 out of 5 stars. This book is exceptionally well edited. I was unable to detect any errors. This story has much more to unravel and various versions of events to delve into. Especially Nick, who seems to be possessed by the memory of his friend Sheldon and his strange way of thinking.

This is a great review; it was a pleasure to read. Wow, lots of stuff going on there! I like the sound of this plot, and I don't mind grotesque. Frankly, I don't understand how Kindle Vella works. I tried to get a book once, but to no avail. However, thank you, Bettny, for giving us a great, detailed picture of this book! :D

Thank you so much! :D :D

Yes, indeed this is a story that will make you think a lot and also has many interesting elements in the plot.

It was a bit difficult for me, but the key is that you download the Kindle Vella app, which works for US residents, and then claim your tokens.

Nick and his friends have a terrible weight to carry for the rest of their lives as they wonder what happened to their friend Sheldon. The reader will feel this weight and the suspense of the strange events that are happening to the characters. This story would have me on edge. This review gives the book the credit it deserves with a 5-star rating. Thank you, Bettny, for writing this informative review. :techie-studyinggray:

Oh I like the complexity of stories written from multiple POVs. I don't know anything about Kindle Vella though, is this not available via regular Kindle?

Woah! This one sounds intriguing. Well done.👍 A book where the author can perfectly describe emotions is worth a read. I'm fine with grotesque; the only problem is that I'm not really familiar with Kindle Vella.😅

Yes, this story is very interesting. It was my first time reading on Kindle Vella and I realized that in this variation of the Kindle app, it is because authors are allowed to update their stories periodically by episodes.

It was my first time reading on Kindle Vella and it is easy. Just select the history, redeem the tokens and that's it. :tiphat:

Bettny, first of all, thank you for introducing me to Kindle Vella! I had no idea this reading option existed! The individual points of view sound exciting, and the author's descriptive abilities seem worthy of a read! How long are these episodes? Are all eight episodes considered a singular book? Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts on this one with us! Until next time...

This was my first time reading on Kindle Vella. It is very simple.

The episodes seemed very short to me because it was a very interesting read that captivated me hahaha

For this review, episodes 1 to 8 were requested but until last week there were 47 episodes published.

I have been seeing this book around a lot. Short episodes sound like an interesting format. You described the book in details and I loved reading the review. Multiple povs certainly bring out the story. Unfortunately, Kindle Vella is still not available in my country!

It's been a while since I last picked up a horror book, but reading your review has reignited my interest in the genre. Also, I wasn't even aware that Kindle Vella existed; I checked it out, and it's a very cool concept.

Oh! Maybe it's because the application is still new. I hope they finish it soon so they can condense it into a complete book so more reviewers can review it. T hanks for commenting :techie-studyingbrown:

At least within the first 8 chapters I found that it is more suspense than terror, perhaps in the following ones the plot will be much darker. I also met Kindle Vella thanks to this book, I liked it.
