Not really, but I'm usually dissapointed when I see that a book I find the premise interesting for is short, because I found the longer books much better in terms of character development and plot.

No, but it might affect when I decide to read the book... For instance if it is a nice thick fantasy novel, I would save it for when I have time off and can read it over a couple of days rather that having to stop and go in the story over a longer period of time.

Often, the page count does influence my decision to read a book. I find very short books less appealing, and excessively long ones can be daunting.

My ideal range is between 300 to 400 pages.

However, there are exceptions. If a title or blurb truly captures my attention, I don't mind venturing beyond my preferred range and delving into a 500-page book, even if it means it might take me a while to complete.

When it comes to deciding whether to read a book or not, page count can definitely be a factor for some people. Some readers prefer shorter books because they can finish them quickly, while others enjoy longer books that allow for more in-depth storytelling. It really depends on your personal preference and how much time you're willing to invest in a book. What about you? Do you have a preference when it comes to page count?

If the topic is interesting enough, word count doesn’t natter

It really depends on the situation and how confident I am that I’ll like the story. I generally don’t care much for short stories, so I tend to go for something longer. Sometimes I’m in the mood for a quicker read and sometimes I want something that will last for a long time and really get into a more detailed story.

Generally for a non fiction novel it does. I read those for educational purposes and if the book is too long it can sometimes feel like a lecture. When it comes to reading for enjoyment I never really look at the page count, just the summary of the story.

@Kristin Cowan I'd agree that page count doesn't matter if the topic is of interest. However, for me, the more the merrier when it comes to fiction.

I can see how you’d prefer longer books for their depth and development. Personally, I don’t mind shorter books, I often find them to be a refreshing change of pace ( I despise slow paced books :( ). A short story can pack a powerful punch and leave a lasting impression.

It depends on the genre of the book. If it's nonfiction, I would prefer for it to be under 250 pages. But if it's fiction then I'll prefer the book between 350-500 pages. If the storyline is rather interesting with a hint of mystery then only I can read a book having more than 500 pages. Otherwise, it's a no for me.

Not too much but it does effect my decision of whether I will read that book or not because when I see a book with 700 or 900 pages it seems like a drag to me I can read book from 300-500 page but 700-900 nah the story just gets old by the time.

For me page count doesn't matter. What matters is the interest ,I can draw from a book.It doesn't matter, whether,it is short or long.

No, it doesn't. I choose a book to read according to which genre I am in mood for and its rating and reviews, not by page count. Sometimes there are books of which stories I get so connected to that I wish they would never end.

Mmm, maybe when I´m in a certain mood. I tend to consider pages according to the genre, so it´s common of fantasy to be longer, but I can´t help but reconsider a romance book about 400 pages although the premise speaks to me. In addition, I have the guilty pleasure to read short works only to see my goal on Goodreads increased hehe.

It depends on whether it's fiction or non-fiction for me. I've often read some pretty good stories less than a hundred pages long but I'd agree that if your looking for something that can grip it's best to know the author's writing style.
