It seemed the author's family escape during the conflict. With vivid storytelling, Nazila Sawhney takes readers on an emotional journey from her childhood in Afghanistan to their refugee life in Canada. The narrative provides a unique perspective, light on resilience and patriotism. A highly recommended read, earning a 5 out of 5 stars

After reading this review, I feel intrigued and moved by the author's account of her family's escape from Afghanistan. The reviewer praises the book for its ability to evoke raw emotions and take readers on an emotional journey. I appreciate that the author provides a unique perspective and offers a deeper understanding of the situation in Afghanistan, beyond what was portrayed in the media.
I also admire the author's resilience and her commitment to helping others. The reviewer mentions how she didn't let survivor's guilt consume her and instead took action to create a positive impact. This resilience and dedication inspire me and make me curious to explore her story further.
Although the reviewer acknowledges that the book didn't align with their initial expectations of a survivor's account from the recent events in Afghanistan, they still found value in the historical context and personal experiences presented. This reassures me that the book provides a valuable insight into the country's past and its impact on individuals and families.
Overall, I feel compelled to read Nazila Sawhney's book, "Once Upon a Time in Afghanistan," based on this review. It seems like a heartfelt and informative narrative that could deepen my understanding of the conflict and its consequences.
