If one were to come extremely close, I think it would be the movie adaptation of The Children of Men by Dorothy Philis James.

I can mention a few films that are at least arguably better: The Godfather, The Shining, Fight Club, American Psycho, and Silence of the Lambs.

The first movie that comes to mind is Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. I just love Alfonso Cuarón's interpretation of the book, it's so quirky and alive. I'm not a fan of all the details that were changed, but overall I like the additions and alterations, whereas such creative license can annoy me with other adaptations. The soundtrack is also quite well executed and suits the direction the filmmakers chose to go with, so the viewing experience is smooth and gratifying. Perhaps due to this, and other cinematic devices, the suspenseful moments of the plot are more gripping in the film.

I think there must be at least a couple other film adaptations that I prefer to the novel, but, alas, they elude me :eusa-think:

I think the best answer would be The Godfather. It was such a great film that changed the movie industry forever.

The "The Shawshank Redemption" movie was better than the book for me. The performances and the visual storytelling added layers that the book couldn't fully convey.
