Thanks to Shirin for the detailed review. :techie-reference:

Sampled a few pages of "Beyond the Golden Door: Seeing the American Dream Through an Immigrant's Eyes" by Ali Master. Enjoyed the sample. It is about the journey of a young immigrant who experiences American dream and the specific freedoms enjoyed in the USA. I liked the review.

Great review!
Master stresses the book is not intended to be an academic solution to the complex issues dividing our nation. Instead, he offers his perspective of the American Dream after living in the United States for thirty-two years and an additional nineteen in three other nations.
If nothing else, amongst all the issues and broken systems of this country (and the world), the more diversity in perspectives we have, the better we have the potential to be. The key is being willing to learn and listen to gain understanding and empathy (if you don’t already have those things).
On a humorous note, his entertaining description of his preconceived notions of Americans, including Texans as wealthy oil well owners wearing cowboy boots and hats, who have "promiscuous wives with big hair." As a lifelong Texan, I can vouch that immigrants are not the only ones with this stereotypical view, thanks to the popular television series, Dallas.
As a fellow Texan (specifically in the sense of living in the state for a little over a decade), this is super accurate! It also got a good laugh out of me LOL.

I’m glad that Mr. Master has had a good experience living in the United States. It’s good to know that not all Muslims hate us. That’s not what you get from listening to the media. Congratulations on BOTD!

Master's journey after migrating to the United States is really worth reading to know how he was able to find love and put his life in place. This would be an interesting piece.

This is a concise review of a great book. It will be a real eye-opener to learn what the author has to share about the priveleges of being an American in light of his life experiences in Pakistan and in America. He appreciates the freedom America offers to all of its citizens. He wants to make sure that we realize how good America is to Americans. He wants Americans to appreciate and preserve these freedoms. Congrats to Ali Master for crafting such a great message. :techie-studyinggray:

This is good book that can help understand the true meaning of being an American. Generally being identified as a member of a society should be by what you hold in your mind towards the society at large. And so being a true citizen is not dependent on just carrying the blood but show go intentions towards the nation and others.

I always try to stay on top of my game when it comes to learning about other languages, cultures, or religions. I believe the better way to understand this is trough the eyes of someone else, and this book seems to be the perfect learning and inspiring tool.
