Even though it is a fictional novel to my ears, it sounds suspiciously close to a coming-of-age biography and, unfortunately, I really dislike reading those, because I was rarely able to find many that aren't either bragging or sad life stories. We all are here to go on our journey and find our life’s purpose, Rick takes us on his journey. With issues between Ricks mother and father, the father leaves and his mother is left raising him. His mother does remarry so the foundation remians. Ricks stepfather passes and he leaves the restaurant but due to financial struggles it isn’t as pleasant. In my opinion sometimes we have to take time for ourselves so that we can deal with issues that we left behind, they eventually catch up to us and for some it pushed growth.
