"Finding Lila" by Licia Chenoweth is a captivating book that takes you on a rollercoaster of emotions. As an adult reader, I found myself drawn into the world of Raini, a spunky and daring young girl on a mission to find her missing mother, Lila.

Raini’s boldness and risk-taking kept me on the edge of my seat. Her courage in navigating a new city, scheming to get her way, and fearlessly pursuing everything she wants is both admirable and terrifying. For any parent who reads this story, it serves as a gentle reminder to stay aware of your children’s activities and the potential dangers they may face.

Raini's relationship with her father is an integral part of the story. It is complex and tugs at your heartstrings. It is fraught with communication breakdowns, insensitivity, problems with trust, and a laundry list of other issues that I am sure many parents and children can identify with in their relationships. As a reader, I truly empathized with both of their struggles, as they both have lost a lot and are trying to make sense of the way things are.

Throughout the book, emotions run high. You will be captivated by heartwarming, heartbreaking, and heart-stopping moments. The pacing and storytelling ensure a bittersweet mix of hope and anxiety and ignite a spark of curiosity, as you will truly want to see how it all ends.

The interactions between Raini and her friends enriched the storytelling. Their camaraderie, shared secrets, and unwavering support made the story feel authentic. Raini could not have accomplished everything alone; friendship and having people who had her back were major themes. All the characters played unique and vital roles in Raini’s life, whether she appreciated them or not.

It is important to note that the book deals with some mature themes—nothing sexually explicit—but it may not be suitable for very young or sensitive readers.

"Finding Lila" is exceptionally well-edited; I saw no grammatical errors. I don't have any complaints about this book. I give this book a solid 5 out of 5 stars for its stimulating plot, realistic and likable characters, and well-crafted storytelling. This book takes you on an exciting journey that highlights the importance of trust, communication, and the lengths we will go to for family.
