Review of The Secret Doors of Cannondale
The Secret Doors of Cannondale by Stephanie Brick is a magical adventure book about a girl named Adeline. The mystery began when Adeline and her parents relocated to Connecticut at Uncle Bennie’s place. While touring Bennie’s house, Adeline finds a mysterious room. Her curiosity to learn more about the room exceeds her fear, and what she sees next changes her life forever.
It turns out that Adeline found an ancient, mysterious crystal that can teleport her to different realms. She is then moved to different dimensions until she’s in a politically tensioned land ruled by Heli’aa. She does not know how to go back to her real world. It worsens because the new friends Adeline has met in the strange world know of a vault door that can get her home, but the door is missing. Will Adeline ever return home?
The book has many outstanding features, including suspense. You won’t get bored reading this book because the thirst to know what happens next keeps growing as the book continues. I also like the elements of mystery deployed in the book. This feature was well executed, unlike in many other books where it seems too good to be true. The magic timeline in the book is also well brought out through the ancient scene in the prologue, making it believable.
Moreover, the book not only tackles realms and magic. It also has valuable life lessons to learn. These include friendship and self-esteem. Adeline meets a new friend, Gabriel, who completely changes her perception of being accepted and believing in herself. This lesson will be very valuable to readers.
I didn’t encounter anything to dislike in the book. Plus, its editing was professional. Therefore, I rate The Secret Doors of Cannondale 5 out of 5 stars because of the aspects above. The book will perfectly suit readers who love magic and realm-shift stories.
