Listening to the same song repeatedly

This is the place for readers of poetry. Discuss poetry and literary art. You can also discuss music here, including lyrics. Also, you can discuss poets themselves, in addition to poetry.

To every action there must be a reason for it. So to listen to a song repeatedly, to me is to get the message, lyrics and meaning of the song. Some times if I want to score songs I have to listen to it repeatedly to get the progression and patterns. So everybody has a reason for listening to a song repeatedly. It depends on how the song appeal to you and the liking you have developed for the song. For a music person like me, listening to the same song repeatedly is not strange. I do it often for several purposes

i used to listen to a favourite song repeatedly but it eventually just made me despise the song 😭
now i try and have some restraint and listen to other songs too so i don’t grow tired of a good song too fast!
all’s fair in love and poetry

Any music that I really love, whether it be one song or a whole album/CD, I can listen to over and over and over again. I usually put a CD in the car of whatever I'm in the mood to listen to and it stays in the CD player sometimes for months before I get tired of it and change to something else that I love. If music has all good qualities - melody, lyrics, instrumentation, orchestration, vocal performance, etc. - and touches your emotions, and brings you joy, how can you tire of that?

It's a common trait in neorodivergent people. Research has shown that For many neorodivergent individuals, repetitive behaviors, including listening to the same song repeatedly, can provide a sense of comfort and predictability in a world that often feels chaotic or overwhelming.

So true @Sandra Smith 18. I can listen to the same song on repeat for months until someone else in my family reminds me that it is getting boring for them, and could I please play another song if I'm going to be the family DJ?

I often do this, for different reasons.
Sometimes I can cure a bad mood by listening to something rage filled until the mood has been exhausted out of me.

Sometimes I'm learning to play the song (I'm also a musician) and my brain picks the song apart different ways.

Sometimes it's an emotional response, reminding me of someone or a moment in time.

Sometimes it's a banger and I'm just going to play it to death until I never want to hear it again.

Oh, it's the same with me. I need to listen to it until I've killed the replay button. It's often my intuition or some memory that brings the same song back up again. But then again some some songs are too good to not listen to them again.

I listen to lots of songs on repeat when I first discover them but after some time j tend to get bored and search for new songs.I think the songs you listen to on repeat are the ones that really resonate with you or remind you of certain times and places in your life.:))

I can listen to a song repeatedly for days or weeks and love it. But when I’m over it, I’m so over the song. Then anytime I hear it. It pisses me off. Or I could really love a song and then the radio overplays it and I never wanna hear it ever again
