I believe people's expenses increase as they get older but their income increases as well. Being older one has to be prepared for unforseen medical expenses, insurances of different types, investments in their retirement. They have to think about mortgage, kids, cars and college. A young person has to worry about getting a work that is suitable and fits their skills. I think I needed less at a young age and a simple job could cover my weekly expenses. That's when one has to start planning and create a budget of what is to come

No youths spends more than elderly people. At old age I believe people have little to spend on. Taking care of their kids and other maintenance will reduce.
