Wow, Tista and Bfrisco, you two have some awesome favorites. I love the way the film composers nowadays do their job. The composers for the BBC miniseries are excellent, too. Music tells a story in its own way, doesn't it, in an eloquent way?

Morning, Suzy. :D

I just thought of the music from the Busby Berkley movies. Footlight Parade. Golddiggers Of 1933, 42nd Street and Dames.
Out of this world dance numbers and great classic music.

Hey, I know who all these people are! I'll use a quote from Shakespeare's "The Merchant of Venice." Speaking of myself, I never have met "so young a body with so old a head." Yup, I was raised on classic movies, classic books, and classic songs. Now I'm on a mission to build the largest classical music collection in the world... Yup, old head... My mom says I was born 70, and more evidence of that surfaces every day... I'm even considering dance lessons... I love the ballroom style and want to try my feet at it. Believe me, the great music, the great art, the great books, and good old Hollywood glam aren't just an old person's thing! Bette Davis, Judy Dench, Faye Dunaway, and Maggie Smith are my top four actresses, and Barbara Stanwyck was great, too! Love their movies, and some of them have amazing soundtracks. I'm enjoying the new series starring Maggie Smith, Downton Abbey. Great soundtrack, great acting, great story. Seen it?

@Nathard
suzy has a topic running on Downton - it's one of her favourite subjects.

I own all of the Desperate Housewives seasons, most of the Grey's Anatomy show, almost all of Criminal Minds, and have seen SO many of the other BBC miniseries, and Downton is one of my ABSOLUTE favorites! I like everything about it, but especially Maggie Smith. :D The trouble in the relationship between Anna and Mr. Bates was at first VERY disconcerting... now, though, I'm glad to see things back to sweetness and adoration, though I hope Bates isn't too foolish with the knowledge he now has of Anna's predicament... Um... I'm writing WAY too much about this here... Hold on, let's keep on the subject of the forum heading... I get all giddy every time I hear the theme start to play at the beginning of an episode. I always forget the name of the guy who composed it, but I know the theme was based on a James Brown song he liked... weird... but okay. :lol: I didn't know if I liked the show at first, but the music caught me right away. By the fourth episode I knew I'd HAVE to see the rest, and that it would be one of those shows of which I'd be awaiting the installment of new seasons with an insane look in my eye... Yeah, I get a little obsessed with stuff like this, but just a little. :D

Listening to the theme from M Squad by Count Basie. Great crime jazz.

I want to see the movie "Quartet" for its soundtrack, a compilation of some of the great operatic selections and chamber works, and for its lead actress, Maggie Smith. I've read reviews that say the music and the movie are perfectly harmonized. I guess I'll see!
