Re: Review of Developing Resilience

“Developing Resilience” by Penny Christian Knight is a story about developing a key life skill to help overcome adversity. Bouncing back from setbacks instead of throwing in the towel is so important for individuals and their families. Penny wrote this autobiographical memoir in her 80s and she split it into three books. This is book one and she describes the mental and physical sexual abuse she endured as a young girl that continued as an adult. She was looking for love and even considered loving another woman. Penny described the abusive relationship she endured married to Edward and she was determined not to let it happen to her again. I admire Penny’s resilience and readers should learn from her life experiences and look forward to the second and third books. Very good review.

What a powerful memoir this is going to be to read. It seems like the author made sure that her editing was on point too. I expect the book to be hard-going and confronting at times, but I'm looking forward to reading it.

The book follows Penny, who became a victim of abuse during her childhood. As the book progresses, the story transitions into her marriage, where once again Penny must face her abuser and survive. This is a story about finding strength.

Developing resilience is a laudable process, but the pains and frustrations involved in the process can have a lasting impact on one's life. This is the case with Penny as the effects of the trauma experienced early in her life continued to recur later. While she developed resilience and overcame her challenges, the effects remain there. This underscores the need for proper child education and healthy upbringing in order to create a trusting and safe society.
