My Spouse, My Friend by Ingiete Oyama is a Christian book aimed at couples seeking to nurture a godly marriage. Oyama begins by exploring the sanctity inherent in matrimony and delves into the reasons behind the increasing prevalence of failed marriages and rising divorce rates. Throughout the text, the author adeptly navigates prevalent issues within marriages, such as infidelity, selfishness, and the gradual deviation from the sacred intentions set forth by God for matrimony. By delving into these sensitive topics, the book effectively challenges preconceived notions surrounding the dynamics of marriage and the essence of love, prompting readers to introspect and reassess their own relationships in light of these discussions.

The book is rich with biblical connotations, as the author meticulously draws upon the Bible to establish a solid foundation for all the claims and statements made within its pages. Through the text, readers are guided to place their trust in God's will. Additionally, the book introduces lesser-discussed topics within the genre, such as the importance of self-love and self-esteem, and underscores how openness and honesty between spouses can nurture trust, intimacy, and long-lasting relationships.

What I liked about the book was the inclusion of biblical references, with related Bible verses serving as epigraphs at the beginning of each chapter. Additionally, the chapters were short and succinct, covering meaningful topics. I appreciated the practical advice provided on various aspects of marriage, including communication, trust-building, setting boundaries, and supporting each other's personal growth.

Overall, I didn't find anything to dislike about the book. The engaging narrative, insightful content, and clear presentation all contributed to my overall positive impression of the book. Furthermore, the book was flawlessly edited, without any grammatical errors or typos. So, I rate the book 5 out of 5 stars. My Spouse, My Friend is a must-read for Christian couples at any stage of their relationship journey. Whether you’re newlyweds looking to establish a strong foundation or seasoned partners seeking to reignite the spark in your marriage, this book offers invaluable insights and practical guidance.

Wow, Aleena! This book promises to be refreshing and thought-provoking. Normally I avoid a lot of Christian books because they are very preachy with an overabundance of regurgitated scripture and a lack of connection to real-life examples. This book has the right balance between the two. I am glad to know that the book puts focus on self-love and self-esteem. It is true that we must love ourselves so that we can love others and be loved back. This area is often neglected. Thank you for this upbeat and informative review. :techie-studyinggray:
