Reading a sample of this book, I got the feeling that this is a very profound read that is meant to help the reader let go of trivial things and focus on what really matter in life. I love that there are also historical fact in it, like you’ve emphasized in your review!

Gumbrell skillfully weaves together historical, religious, and philosophical narratives to challenge readers' perspectives and encourage greater empathy and kindness towards all sentient beings. The focus on adopting children over having biological children is a particularly poignant message that deserves widespread attention.

Life can be very confusing at times. The author Mark Gumbrell speaks about the "Enlightenment for the Things that Matter ." It is a great title for the book, and I love the cover too. He speaks about many topics. However, personal development and destructive jealousy which is so prominent in our lives today caught my interest.

. I especially appreciate the author's nuanced treatment of complex topics like the nature of God - he raises compelling questions without preaching a single dogmatic view.

As a work of fiction, 'Enlightenment for the things that really matter' succeeds on multiple levels. The characters are richly developed, the plot is engaging, and the themes of kindness, gratitude, and empathy are woven throughout in a powerful way.

Not sure if I can be persuaded to read this book, because not only do I dislike all kinds of non-fiction, but moreover, the subject matter chosen by the author doesn't interest me in the slightest. Also, in my opinion, "Things That Really Matter" are customized and vary from person to person and what's more important to one, can be second to another. I definitely don't like it when someone tries to impose and influence the values hold dear.

I loved reading this book as I learned what the author thought on various topics about humanity. Even though some of the opinions may feel biased, I believe this book has many important facts people must learn.

Enlightenment for the Things That Really Matter seems to offer a thought-provoking exploration of meaningful living through historical, religious, and philosophical lenses. It's commendable that the author draws from personal and familial experiences to advocate for compassion and empathy towards all sentient beings, not just humans.

This review beautifully captures the essence of "Enlightenment for the Things that Really Matter" by Mark Gumbrell. The author's focus on kindness, empathy, and fairness resonates deeply in today's world. It's refreshing to see a novel that delves into historical and philosophical reflections to enlighten readers on these important virtues. While the mention of doubts regarding the existence of God might stir some debate, it adds layers to the narrative, prompting readers to ponder deeply. Overall, it sounds like a compelling read that offers valuable insights into living a fulfilled life.
