Honestly, I really only use the internet (especially sites like Goodreads) to find my next pick. I also rely heavily on word of mouth.

I use the internet quite extensively in discovering books I might be interested in. This site, along with Goodreads and -- yes -- Amazon recommendations, provide a completely different set of titles than word-of-mouth from my friends does. Between the two sources, internet and fellow-nerds, I keep a running list of to-reads.

I use the Internet pretty much exclusively now for picking books. I mainly depend on excerpts when they are available. I use online reviews a lot as well.

I do not think newspapers help us pick out books as newspapers are a dieing format, internet is the place for ideas and the future of reading.

Hmm...first: the story. Second: online reviews. I prefer online reviews rather than newspaper, as the for former has opinions from more people (even though some of them seem to be biased).

General word of mouth or the internet. Since I have joined this site I think I will be going on reviews here more as it gives you a much more honest view as to what the books like

I love looking on the internet for new books to read, especially goodreads. All the books I could ever want and more, I just have to track them down once I know what I'm looking for. Though, I haven't been really reading anything I chose randomly lately, because of my netgalley account, and my to read list on goodreads..

I tend to google what the popular books are at a given time just to get myself an idea of what all is out there. From there I'll read reviews to narrow it down

At times the internet does help me find a book or series. I will go on and try to find more books of a specific genre or even just something that someone recommends to read. I think books should at least be given one chance. If someone recommends them then I will give them a try. I will use the internet sometimes to see what series that i have yet to read in certain genres. Other times I will just go to a library and pick up books, if the synopsis captures my attention at the time then I will take it home for a read.

Yes, definitely internet plays a major role to pick books. But as for newspaper, I don't know how much it helps.

Internet helps me to pick a book. It's not just any online book shop but social media apps like Instagram also helps me to come across a new book.
