I am married to a man who reads the Bible. He reads it a lot. I don’t. We can discuss it if he wants to. I can talk about an interesting book. He will discuss it if I want to. We ask each other questions to draw out opinions.
I play piano and guitar. I write folksy music. No date (or spouse) has ever taken part in those activities with me. So, why would I feel differently about reading? I like my independence.

I have also noticed a pattern with people who don't like reading as well. They don't give themselves an opportunity to learn or change their perspectives or grow.

If your partner like reading any books it's great. Especially if he/she has a same genre as you are. You could discuss about it in your free time. (it could be long discussion).
But, if you're partner doesn't like reading any book, it also awesome. You could discuss about anything else. For example, your partner really love sports. So, you could talk about it.
