Oh I quite liked that book - and London and Sarum, both also written by him.Mairin wrote:Edward Rutherfurd. His book "The Forest" was absolutely atrocious! His writing style seems forced and lacks any sense of flow. It was choppy and boring.

I've got to agree with this. At least with JK Rowling, as some of you were discussing, her plots were intricately woven (in my opinion), while the Twilight Series was...well...not. Not only that, but Rowling wrote a lot of incredible characters with agency, intelligence, and bravery. I couldn't get through the first Twilight book because the characters were lacking these traits.mbeasley wrote:Stephanie Myers. I don't understand what all the hype is about. Her writing is atrocious.
Basically, I can see why several people listed Meyer and Rowling as their most hated authors, but my two cents is that Meyers takes the cake. I can be indifferent to some iffy writing, but few books/authors do I have such strong, negative feelings about, and Meyer's Twilight series is high on the list for me.

Although I'm surprised to see so many dislike J.K. Rowling's writing. It stood up to my over-active editor brain, and an enormous amount of writers have yet to learn her complexity in world creation. However, I do see how some may perceive her plot structures as less than seeing as they follow YA and Fantasy structures.
In any case, ick to James.
