Review of Awakening with Ease
Awakening with Ease: A Simple Direct Path for Wise Women Leaders, Mindful Entrepreneurs, Immigrants, Minorities and Seekers.
Author: Susmita Barua.
This book offers a new perspective on self-enlightenment and self-discovery, with the added benefit of learning some Buddhist meditation techniques. What holds me back from fully taking in what Susmita Barua is saying is the chunky, flowery, long sentences and never-ending paragraphs: her writing style is holding me back. I recognise that others would probably get stuck into what she's saying, but in my case, to keep my focus, I would have appreciated some illustrations (perhaps some lovely Buddhist statues or temple pictures, and beautiful lotus flowers, etc.), also, shorter paragraphs and the inclusion of 'pointers' would have broken it up a little.
The book includes the mantra 'Awaken With Ease' (A.W.E.), which, in a nutshell, means to recognise your inherent human capacity to know, observe, and be aware of your direct experience without adverse reaction. After the Covid pandemic, humanity needed a 'reset' to consider our future using a more open, hopeful and caring spirit, both individually and at a higher level (the U.N., governments, etc).
2,600 years ago, five years after Buddha's Enlightenment, his aunt was perhaps the first feminist. She requested the ordination of herself and 500 female nuns. This book follows his teachings with the six steps to open our minds: Alive, ask, Abandon, Accept, Aware and Awaken.
Susmita had a good job and was a fairly new immigrant from India. She realised that she had been caught up in the dark fog of life and needed to take a deep look inside herself and calm her body and soul. She feels intense sympathy for immigrants and other minorities and realises that widespread ignorance is the cause.
As I described earlier, the writing style made the book difficult to understand. However, I recognise that it will help people, that her enthusiasm is palpable, and that I found no grammatical errors. For all these reasons, I will award it 4 out of 5 stars.

There are likely to be many positives about this book You expressed reservations about the writing style. After going through the first paragraph of your review, I wasn't too encouraged. However, your final rating changed all that. So I look forward to some new lessons on self-awakening
