This heart-wrenching saga about disability and the encounters with Personal Care Attendants deserves rich applause, not least because of the author's courage and candidness.

Offering care and support to people who really need that is a selfless way to show care for people. Jeanne still gets juicy stories as a plus. This book would be really appealing to people who love carefully narrated stories. Congrats on botd!!

This is an interesting review, but I think Jeanne's story has much more to it than "juicy gossip" or ills of drug abuse - there is another important aspect - Jeanne had to cope not only with her progressing and incurable muscle dystrophy but also with the legislation that made her, a disabled person, the employer of her PCAs in the midst of the drug abuse epidemic, without the right to check for any adverse records of the PCAs she was employing, which made her even more vulnerable. This aspect makes this book stand out for me.

Thank you for reviewing this book. Not many people talk about their bad experiences while being cared for. I congratulate Jeanne Tiberio for sharing her experiences. I am curious to know how she stood up to the bullying. The opioid crisis was more far reaching than I could have imagined. I want to know Jeanne's story. :techie-studyinggray:

Suffering from muscular dystrophy did not stop Jeanne from speaking up against the bullies. I think readers who listen to this audiobook will find it inspiring and will be instilled with courage. Thanks for sharing a review of this book.

The review of "Helpers Anonymous" by Jeanne Tiberio has left me intrigued about the author's journey with Muscle Dystrophy and her interactions with Personal Care Attendants. The stories seem both shocking and interesting, providing insights into the negative effects of drug abuse among PCAs.

This is an interesting book on Jeanne’s life in her discovery of suffering from muscular dystrophy and later her experiences with personal care assistants - the good and the bad. I appreciate Jeanne’s character and how she doesn't let anyone put her down.

In my opinion, its awful to be so dependant on someone for mist simple and basic tasks, which healthy people go through everyday without conscious thinking. Not sure I would like to dedicate time to learning more even though I feel for the author, therefore congrats on BOTD, but I will have to pass the book.

We have heard so many horror stories about how helpless individuals were treated poorly by some people who had power. It is surprising how this keeps on happening. Glad to have this book. Congratulations on BOTD, and best wishes for future projects.

I'm eager to dive into Jeanne Tiberio's unique world and her encounters with PCAs. The mix of shocking stories and inspiring resilience sounds like a captivating journey. Plus, the cautionary tale on drug abuse adds depth.

I enjoyed your review and your honesty. You said, "I recommend it to lovers of memoirs." From reading your review, it sounds like anyone who has a loved one in the care of a PCA should read the book. It might shed light on some signs to watch for if there is a question about the quality of care being given. This sounds like a book that would be very interesting and informative. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the book.
