It sounds like a good book for those that want to learn more about chess. I am not into the strategy. This might be good for my husband, though. It sounds well-written. Thanks.

I used to play chess when I was a kid, sitting on the front porch with my friend Billy. We were never very good at it, and I haven't played it since. Maybe this book will provide the impetus to reach out and check someone again. Thanks for a great review.

This is a helpful book for anyone new to, or revisiting, the game of chess. It sets out the benefits of chess, as well as its history, before going into the basics of the pieces, the movements, the notation, and some opening moves. The book also includes some improver strategies.

As a casual player, I love that there's a book that refreshes about the game. Since I lack understanding of tactics and strategy and always play on luck,I find this book educative. I especially appreciate books that include background information, such as the history of chess.

Thank you for your great review on "Chess Strategies for Beginners" by Eric H. Schuelke. I've always wanted to learn how to play chess and I have read different starter books but most of them got me started as far as the rules are concerned but I got lost when it came to actually playing the moves. After reading the sample on Amazon where this book is temporarily free and your review I decided to put this book on my shelf to read and give chess another try. Thank you to the author for breaking down the history of chess and actually helping a new player understand the game a bit more.

I've always found chess confusing, and I never understood how to play it. This book may help me understand how to play the game better. Thanks for the review!

I wanted to learn how to play chess to teach my kids, but I didn't know where to start. Your thorough review makes it clear that this book is perfect for a beginner like myself. I appreciate you pointing out how it is written to be easily understood and that there are graphical images, which will help me immensely since I am a visual learner.
