In Lieu of Flowers* by Keith Steinbaum is a compelling fictional story that intertwines themes of destiny, dark forces, and human desperation. The gripping narrative follows the heartbreaking journey of a stolen Romanian/Jewish child, Adding this book to my reading list for its well-crafted plot and profound exploration of human nature and fate.

"In Lieu of Flowers" by Keith Steinbaum masterfully explores themes of destiny, moral dilemmas, and the influence of dark forces. Gunari's desperate decision to steal a child, despite expecting one himself, and the subsequent tragic events raise profound questions about predestination and manipulation.

I am already curious about the reason behind the kidnapping, plus the reviewer has said that the book is gripping from the start, which kickstarts me more into checking this book:
'In Lieu of Flowers by Keith Steinbauml tells the story of a stolen Romanian/Jewish child. As Gunari contemplated his lack of money, a man, claiming to have a lucrative deal, approached him. In this desperate state, he decided to indulge himself and know what offer he had for him. This offer required Gunari to steal a particular baby and deliver it to the man in exchange for a lot of money. Was it solely a coincidence that it had to be Petre Levy who needed to be stolen? The author's concise writing will be gripping to anyone who picks up this book. Even if you are not a fan of the genre, the start of the book was gripping. If you also love stories about airmen, there is something for you. If you believe in prophecies, there is also something for you.'

Romani mothers have gone through a lot. They have been accused of stealing children, and their own kids were snatched from their hands because the child was too fair. We see a story of a similar Romani child. Congratulations on the BOTD, and best wishes for future projects.

I see great potential in this book, not so much with regard to the crime story, but more psychological aspects and developing change the unspeakable act of kidnapping forced on a person. Thanks a lot for the recommendation and congrats with BOTD!

I could understand the pressure Gunari had to face which made him accept the offer so he could improve the quality of services he rendered to his customers.

This book sounds interesting, stealing a child to be paid handsomely is definitely a struggle for anyone with a conscience, but when faced with a really harrowing situation such as suffering as a result of poverty, one may be tempted to cave in.
