Everyone loves a good romance, for it stirs the heartstrings and makes us all light up with hope and faith. Guilty of Stealing His Heart by Nancy Lynn White is a historical fiction novel in the romantic genre. The book is set in the 1800s and revolves around a character named Carrie Wagner.

Carrie is the center point of this story; she is the female lead and very much leads the story. Carrie hasn't had a happy or fulfilling childhood; she has spent most of her life in an orphanage, devoid of love, and often wondering why she was abandoned by her mother. In the orphanage, she befriends a girl named Ruth, and they become close friends. Years later, long after her days in the orphanage, Carrie is now a married woman, a love match; her husband is a banker and of good standing. But when he is suspected of robbing a bank and killing a Pinkerton agent, her life is thrust into chaos and confusion once again.

However, Carrie is a woman of substance and grit, and she finds her way out of the quicksand that resembles her life. With nothing tying her back, Carrie decides to begin her new life in California. It is here that the tables of fate turn as she meets JT Grant and falls in love with him. Carrie and JT share a great camaraderie, and their love story is sweet and romantic. They support and uphold each other, and they go through the difficulties and tribulations of life together.

Frankly, Guilty of Stealing His Heart is a lovely novel with a strong female lead who has the grit and the resilience to carve her own story. Furthermore, the plot and the manner of storytelling are really compelling and keep the reader turning pages without a break.

In conclusion, I'd rate this book a perfect 5 out of 5 stars for the beautiful pace and narrative. The book is a testament to the fact that love is the most powerful force of all. Also, the author has done an incredible job of addressing issues of prejudice and racial discrimination with sensitivity and respect. The editing of the book is well-done as well. I didn't find anything to particularly dislike at all.
