The Kovalenko Secret, written by Philip L. Rettew, is filled with suspense for readers and is inspired by the 9/11 attack that happened in the United States of America.

Karina, the daughter of Viktor Kovalenko, is a beautiful ballet dancer from Russia. After being rejected by the Russian Bolshoi, she decides to head to the city of New York to continue chasing her dreams to become the world's best dancer. Unknown to her, she meets people who are interested in her affairs.

Colonel Victor Kovalenko, the father of Karina, is a Russian intelligence officer who stepped into his new position as the new commander of the Chelyabinsk base in Russia. After assuming the post, the Colonel noticed some odd changes and reported them to his superior. With the unsatisfactory response he gets, he decides to find out for himself what the problem is. A nuclear device was stolen, and Colonel Victor is left with no choice but to seek assistance from a Ukrainian priest and CIA agents. The aftermath of these events leaves the Colonel with a difficult decision.

I must applaud the author for the awesome design on the cover of this book; it was what drew my attention to this book at first sight. I also love how the author wrote the thoughts of the characters in italics; it made me know when the characters drifted into their thoughts. The inclusion of dates and locations for each scene is a brilliant idea, as it makes my imagination much easier as I read. For my criticisms, I understand the author's willingness to create the best possible book a reader can read, but I cannot comprehend the many scenes in the book; it is so much that I cannot grasp a character name before entering other scenes that contain additional characters to memorize.

I enjoyed the storyline of this book and the intriguing feeling it gave me while reading it. I also applaud the author for the flawless editing in this book, as I found no errors while reading. To this effect, my rating for this book is a perfect 5 out of 5 stars. I recommend this book to suspense book lovers, as they will enjoy reading it.
