I like this story of triumph over adversaries and hardships through the story of the Hartis and Kirchners. I am also interested in reading on the issues of faith as discussed in the book. Thanks for the review.

Books about families and their struggles fascinate me because they portray the reality that all families face. I so look forward to reading Near the Danube Bridge and learn about family, love, faith, and resilience.

Good books are difficult to come by. But, when you eventually find one, there's an absolute need for commendation. This book is outstanding and deserves a perfect rating. It totally deserves the book of the day.

I have read the sample pages on Amazon, and after reading your review, I am convinced to add "Near the Danube Bridge" to my to-read list. It seems like a book that everyone should read. The timing of this book couldn't be more advantageous. The current state of affairs in America needs a reality check. We learn about history in schools so we don't repeat the same mistakes; therefore, read this book to remind yourself. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

Family sagas that are real are even more interesting to read than fictional ones. This one spans 100 years of family history. Thanks for the detailed review.

Thank you for your great review. I'm glad you enjoyed it so much. Kalman is about my mom's age. I admire him so much for surviving all that he did and for sticking to his beliefs. I'm sure it was difficult for his daughter to remember all of the things too. I'm glad the editing was well done also. I think this might be a rough book to read, but I do enjoy memoirs and sometimes the right thing to do is the rough thing, so I've added it to my list of books to read after reading your review.

The structure of this book is linear. Events follow like dominos falling. I like it, but I get it’s not to everyone’s taste. Excellent core review.

The biography "Near the Danube Bridge" by Catherine Allen-Walters tells the story of two families and the hardships they faced during World War II, together with the significant historical moments of the era. It sounds like an uplifting tale that will show readers—especially young readers—that we should always stand up for what we think is right and accept and cherish our beliefs.

I'm not one for 'war' stories but this sounds so good, as there are many other aspects are covered then just war. It's sad to read how people had to suffer through these troubling times. But I'm sure that there is great lessons to learn by reading this book and I'm amp to do so. Thanks for a great review. Congrats on BOTD.

It has to be any parents honor for their child to research their life story. During a time of war and strife, readers get to explore the mindset and lived experiences of these individuals.

“Near the Danube Bridge” by Cathrine Allen-Walters is a story of two families that begins before WWII. Kalman Hartig the main character was born in 1930 and his father was an Evangelical while his mom was a Seventh-day Adventist. He would need to choose a religion when he was older. The story starts in Europe and moves to North America, covering three generations. Members of the families had to overcome persecution and imprisonment. Sadly, war brings out the worst in people and many soldiers during WWII walked into people’s homes and murdered the residents. Parts of the book are heartbreaking and will bring readers to tears. Very good review.

It looks like an interesting book that touches a lot on faith, devotion, determination and the persecution of people of faith. While the book seems intriguing, I think I will skip it for now. Thank you for your review!
