Near the Danube Bridge chronicles the inspiring story of Kalman Hartig and Minka Kirchner, who survived the cruelty of labor camps and the horrors of war. Their journey continues beyond these challenges as they navigate life under a communist regime and eventually escape with their children. The narrative is praised for its clarity and organization, supported by photos and letters that enrich the biography.

The story reveals the hardships and persecution faced by three generations of the Hartigs and Kirchner families. It follows Kalman Hartig during the time of WW2. It touches on the topic of US immigration law at that time. Letters and photographs add authenticity.

Near the Danube Bridge by Catherine Allen-Walters. It's an incredible family biography that follows Kalman Hartig's unwavering faith and resilience through persecution and historical upheavals like WWII. The story is both inspiring and moving, with great historical context and personal touches. Adding it to my reading list!

A biography that follows the story of Kalman and Hermina as they live through labor camps and try to escape this horrible life. A heartbreaking but beautiful read. I love that there are also historical facts about WWII, so thanks for sharing that in your review!

The story in this book sounds thrilling but it actually happened. What becomes of the author's father in prison? How does the War impact them directly?

Kalman Hartig was born in 1930, at that time the world was revolving around a lot of political tension. Kalman's father was Evangelical and his mother was seventh day Adventist.Kalman life wasn't easy because even his faith might get him in trouble.

Hi @ _Rhea Jacob, I just read your comments on the official review of "Near the Danube Bridge" and yes the book does focus on religious persecution there is so much more to the story that covers two families that met before WWII in Europe and continues with immigration to North America. This is an excellent book. @Mrlefty0706
