Review of E M P Honeymoon
"EMP Honeymoon" by Dorothy May Mercer is an exhilarating action thriller that follows newlyweds Kelly and Tom Turbulo as their honeymoon on a resort island takes a dangerous turn. Kelly's curiosity leads her to a perilous discovery in a pigsty shop, entangling her and Tom in a deadly terrorist plot aimed at annihilating North America with a nuclear electromagnetic pulse. As Kelly narrowly escapes from terrorists and enlists her brother's help, the couple finds themselves at the center of a global conspiracy. With the aid of resourceful allies, including Kelly's brother and Senator McBride's formidable bodyguards, they race against time to thwart the catastrophic attack.
The novel is replete with suspense, clever humor, and gripping action scenes, punctuated by a standout moment when female bodyguards skillfully overpower a CIA agent who underestimated them. Mercer deftly blends thrilling narrative with relatable characters and subtle romance, creating a compelling story that captures the catastrophic potential of an EMP attack and keeps readers on the edge of their seats.
My favorite character in this book is Kelly Turbulo. Kelly's inquisitive nature and bravery are central to the story, driving much of the plot's excitement and suspense. Her discovery of the terrorist plot and her quick thinking in dangerous situations make her a compelling and relatable protagonist. Kelly's resourcefulness and determination to protect her loved ones and thwart the catastrophic attack showcase her strength and resilience.
I would rate this book 5 out of 5 stars because it delivers a perfect blend of thrilling action, suspenseful storytelling, and clever humor. Mercer's skillful character development makes the protagonists relatable and engaging, while the strong female characters, such as the resourceful Kelly Turbulo and the formidable bodyguards, add a refreshing dynamic. There is nothing I dislike about the book, and the book is perfectly edited.
I recommend this book to fans of action-packed thrillers and suspense novels. If you enjoy stories with strong, resourceful protagonists, unexpected plot twists, and a mix of humor and high-stakes drama, this book is perfect for you.
