“Island of Misfit Joys” by Paul E. Kotz includes his own history in the pages of this book. Paul has transitioned from a successful corporate career to a tutor, coach and teacher. In his mid-to late 50’s he has decided to pass on his knowledge to the younger generation. During this transition he had to go through the complexities of a divorce while caring for his two young daughters. The book includes five distinct sections that explore difference facets of life and includes several short stories. Having lived a similar life during my forties and fifties, I could easily relate to Kotz. I agree with him that we should put our faith in God and recognize our potential. Very good review.

Paul really had a lot going in his life divorce, changing his career, all this issues were enough to make him lose up. But from the narrative he didn't and in his book he encourages everyone never to lose hope but to keep pushing. Nice review

I rarely read self-help books, but I've read one from this author before and it was definitely worth my time, so I think I will have to read this one, too! I like that the author not only shares from his personal experiences, but also maintains a kind and encouraging tone. You mentioned in the review that this book also includes short stories; this was a typical feature for the book I read before, too, so I think I will enjoy those. All in all, I think we all need to be reminded from time to time that life is not without hardships, but there lies beauty within.

Thank you for your positive review!

Island Of Misfit Joys is a compelling collection of life experiences, stories, and epiphanies that explore the concept of being a "misfit" and finding joy in the process. Paul E. Kotz shares vulnerable and riveting tales that offer encouragement and affirmations of worthiness, making it a must-read for anyone who has ever felt out of place.

"The change one fears might be the catalyst for a transformative life trajectory." That is such a wonderful thought and absolutely true, too! Conquering the fear is the first step. Congrats on the BOTD!

"Island Of Misfit Joys" by Paul E. Kotz. In this book, the author openly shares his journey, encompassing triumphs and setbacks, moments of elation, and periods of sadness.
