Matthew Tysz’s "We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies" is an enthralling start to a multifaceted series that combines magic, politics, and the human spirit in a masterful narrative. This debut book immerses readers in the world of Voulhire, a land brimming with wealth, natural resources, and magical intrigue.

The story follows Galen Bray, a refugee from a war-torn land where life is expendable and cruelty is the norm. Fleeing his homeland’s relentless violence, Galen arrives in Voulhire, a beacon of hope and advancement. Here, he is to inherit his late uncle’s forge, a symbol of new beginnings and opportunities. Galen's journey from a life of despair to one of promise is both heartwarming and fraught with challenges. His relationship with Rowan, his uncle’s executor, adds a layer of camaraderie and trust that grounds the narrative. Tysz expertly intertwines Galen’s personal quest with the broader tensions brewing in Voulhire.

Tysz’s prose is rich and evocative, balancing simplicity with a richness that draws readers into the heart of Voulhire. The book’s themes of power, survival, and hope resonate deeply, making it a thought-provoking read. While the narrative is character-driven, the plot’s twists and turns ensure that the story remains dynamic and unpredictable.

The author really impressed me with this book. I was prepared to take off a star based on the middle section, but by the end of the story, I couldn't find any reason to penalize it.

In conclusion, The world-building in "We are Voulhire" is meticulous with flawless editing of the book both are the things is absolutely perfect in this book. Tysz’s inclusion of maps and reference guides enriches the reading experience, helping readers navigate the novel’s intricate settings and diverse cultures. The blend of magic and political machinations is seamlessly executed, creating a world that feels both fantastical and real.
