I read that many years ago, and I loved it. Books with animals seem to touch my heart much more than anything else I read. And elephants are such majestic, elegant animals. Do you know an article in the NY Times, I think it was recently said that some scientists believe now that elephants have names for each other? Isn't that amazing?

After a wait of several months, I managed to reach the top of an incredibly long list at my digital library, and I am in the happy possession of Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus. I'm pleased to report that it is worth the wait! I'm on page 222, which is 47%, according to Kindle. I am enjoying it, though there are moments where I wish she'd hurried it up in some places, but that's more my personality than any flaw within this poignant story. I am an impatient reader!

Oh! I just realized that most, if not all, of you will not recognize me as I've not posted much since joining roughly a year ago, I think? Anyhow, my name's Stephanie, and I'm glad to be here.

I’m currently reading This Could Be Us by Kennedy Ryan. It’s absolutely beautiful. It follows two single parents as they figure out how to work a new relationship into their single lives. I haven’t finished it yet but I’ve already recorded a quote: “All loves aren’t created equal. Some spring from the earth and wrap around and twine through our souls like vines. Some are plants that start with tiny seeds in your heart and blossom over time, nurtured by years and commitment” (page 77).

I just finished Sombrero de tres picos from Pedro Antonio de Alarcón and I really enjoyed, even when is a bit complicated for the expression they use, not present at the Spanish talked at the present. I was fascinated by the way the characters were developed, there´s not that much description of inner talk but the have depth, the story is not over complicated but really entertaining, for me is the example of a really well written book.

I’m listening to the audiobook of Café con Lychee by Emery Lee. I don’t really love the characters but the storyline is good.

Some people like to watch multiple tv shows at a time, I like to read multiple books at a time.

With Online Book Club, I'm reading HERO by Danielle Bouthillier.

I'm also reading ON DISINFORMATION: HOW TO FIGHT FOR TRUTH AND PROTECT DEMOCRACY by Lee McIntyre and BRISTLECONE BOOK:A NATURAL HISTORY OF THE WORLD'S LARGEST TREES by Ronald M. Lanner.

I usually switch between fiction and nonfiction, and I have been making a more concentrated effort to read books that are more contemporary and published within the current year. Of course, some books just stand out to me; I'm a part of 2 other IRL book clubs. One is on hiatus over the summer; my other book club is still voting for the book we will choose.
