Voulhire was flourishing and prosperous. They had just celebrated the Feast of the Human Hands in honor of their predecessors, who had led them to this path of prosperity and success. However, King Wilhelm was feeling uneasy. He could sense something grim looming in the distance. Even with reassurance from Dustin and Nartik, his advisors, he couldn't just shake the feeling. He had a premonition that something dark was brewing, especially after the recent attack, murder, and overthrow of Lord Orlin, lord of Hillport, by Lord Meldorath, a former general and powerful mage. Meldorath was not someone to cross, and it was unfortunate for King Wilhelm that he had betrayed him. There was also the threat of Riva Rohavi and the rise of forbidden dark magic. Meanwhile, things weren't going well in the Lands of the Princes, with years of war and famine ravaging the country. Galen Bray seizes his chance to escape to Voulhire, a land full of opportunities. A long-forgotten uncle had left him an estate and a forging business and sent Rowan to find him. Was it an escape, or was he jumping from the frying pan into the fire? Find out in "We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies" by Matthew Tysz.

I agree with many other readers that this book is very interesting and captivating to read. The dark fantasy setting was amazing and suited the overall style and story very well. There are quite a number of characters, and it's difficult to discern their roles at this early stage. I can't pinpoint who the main character or villain is just yet, which is intriguing because it makes me want to continue the series to find out. Meldorath seems the most mysterious, and I haven't figured out Galen's or Rowan's roles yet. Galen and Rowan are closely linked, and it appears that Galen's skills as a swordsmith and the mysterious ore they found will play a significant role in creating some mythical weapon later on. This suspense kept me engaged throughout the book; there was nothing I disliked, and with no reason to give a lower rating, I rate the book 5 out of 5 stars. The book was exceptionally well edited and is perfect for fans of dark fantasy novels.
