The Enpirion Project: Exordium by L. Bossi is a fantasy adventure that features queer romance.

Enpirion finds himself adrift after the fall of the Seri Empire, which used him as a living weapon. Now, he must contend with a reputation as a murderous monster and nightmares that reveal his suppressed memories. When approached by his new commander, Nephael, he is initially reluctant to open up, but Nephael is persistent. Slowly, Enpirion starts to believe that there is still a place for him in society and that he can find people who will see him for who he truly is. However, his dream of a happy life is shattered when signs of an old evil cult re-emerge. Enpirion must decide what he is willing to sacrifice to protect his newfound life.

What I really enjoyed about this book was its focus on mental health issues and the importance of having supportive people who can help pull you out of dark places. It features not only a romantic relationship built on mutual understanding but also strong, supportive friendships.

The world isn’t drastically different from a standard fantasy setting, but it includes elements that make it feel fresh and unique. I particularly enjoyed the magic system. On one side, there is the Source, which the Seri use to power their technology. On the other, there is the Dark, which the author skillfully makes into something that feels dangerous and unnatural.

One of the best features of this book is the illustrations. They are well-drawn and enhance the story, as they are presented as the drawings made by Piri and referenced in the story.

I really enjoyed this book. The story was engaging, and the characters were relatable. The only minor drawback is a somewhat slower pace, but that’s more of a personal preference. Overall, I’m giving it 5 out of 5 stars.

I recommend it to readers who enjoy fantasy literature, especially if they are looking for a romance subplot. There are some sex scenes, but they are very brief and subtle.

Romance is not my thing but this novel goes far beyond that with important themes such as acceptance and support developed in a well-developed fantasy world. I'll look into this series. Thank you for your great review!

Daggum, this here review sure got me intrigued! Seems like "The Enpirion Project: Exordium" by L. Bossi is a mighty fine fantasy adventure with a queer romance twist. The focus on mental health issues and the importance of supportin' friendships sure caught my interest. The world, while similar to other fantasy settings, appears to have unique elements, especially with that magic system. The 'drawl' illustrations also sound like a neat touch. Overall, reckon I'm reckonin' a good ol' 5 outta 5 stars for this book. I reckon I'd recommend it to folks lookin' for a fantasy read with a touch of romance. Y'all might wanna keep in mind, though, that there are some brief sex scenes. Masterful world-building, brought the setting to life.

Hallelujah!
Dear Marie Chalupova

Thank you for sharing your thoughtful review. I am delighted to hear that you enjoyed the book and found the themes of mental health and supportive relationships resonant. The journey of Enpirion as he navigates his past and seeks acceptance is indeed central to the narrative, and it’s heartening to know that it struck a chord with you.

I appreciate your insights into the magic system and the world-building elements. The contrast between the Source and the Dark adds depth to the story, and it's great to see that you found it fresh and engaging. The illustrations, as you mentioned, are designed to complement the narrative, and I’m glad you enjoyed them.

Your feedback regarding the pacing is valuable. While some readers may prefer a faster narrative, the slower pace allows for deeper character development and exploration of themes, which can be crucial in a story that deals with complex emotional landscapes.

Thank you once again for your review. I hope you continue to explore more stories that delve into fantasy and romance.
Best regards,

Phiri seems like an intriguing character from the first chapter of the book. It must be hard to acclimatize to his new world and I can't wait to read more about how the plot will develop. Thanks for an interesting review.
