After the death of his daughter, Riley, Poe's life went downhill. He was a firefighter in Lochton, Illinois. His relationship with his wife and son, Gabriel, also developed problems. In the middle of the tension, a mysterious figure named Crighton, a demon and Lucifer's soul-catcher, kept trying to reach out to Gabriel. He wanted to collect his soul. Upon noticing this, Poe is not going to let this happen, so he carries out a surprising act. An act that landed him in prison, where he was facing capital punishment. What did Benjamin Poe do? Crighton’s mission to capture Ariel's soul is derailed when he is captured by scientists from The Sovereign Sector who are experimenting on supernatural beings. This unexpected romance with Ariel results in him having to make a difficult decision of having to choose between his loyalty to Lucifer and his feelings for Ariel.

What intrigued me about this book is its plot. It was interesting and beautifully executed. The conflicts between Poe and Crighton will leave you on tenterhooks and just wanting more. The development of the characters is such that you end up rooting for both. This romance and these scenes of love added extra spice and helped to enhance the story. Poe's struggle and will to protect his family were beautiful and emotional to read. Crighton's character brings some depth and balance to the plot. From time to time, there are some scary scenes, but it's a story so interesting that it's going to leave you with a desire to have more.

The problem I had with this book was that it took time for the main plot to really set in. This slow start can be discouraging for some readers, but it is not bad enough to affect the rating. So, I rate Soul Seeker by Kaylin McFarren 5 out of 5 stars. It was exceptionally edited and free of errors. I highly recommend it to lovers of mystery, thriller, and romance novels.
