Speedy: Hurled Through Havoc by Dave Letterfly Knoderer is a book that the author wrote to honor his father, whose interest shows why the author has an affinity for the circus. The author shared how his parents met, when he and his other siblings were born, his father's ministry job, his mother's performances as an opera singer, and everything that led to his loving and being involved in the circus. He grew up admiring his father even though the atmosphere at home wasn't perfect, as his father never gave him the affirmation he craved. He always felt alone and was an alcoholic when he grew up. He also shared the lives of people who have helped him in his career, such as Hayes Ganiard, Bob Grubb, Clarence Hastings, Smokey Jones, etc.

It was great reading this book because the same experience that would have made others fail made the author successful. His father was his hero, even though he didn't really give him the push and support he needed, and he didn't understand the needs of his children. His dad was a complicated person, and Dave was always trying to please him and crave his attention. I love how the author constantly expressed gratitude every step of the way. He always mentioned people who have helped him or steered him to the right path, and he was intentional about being grateful for their effects on his life.

I learned a lot about the circus and painting in this book. I loved that the author's writing style is very descriptive. Billy and Fred's experience as boys when the circus arrived was described in detail every step of the way, and it almost felt like I was there observing them. I have never had a better circus experience!

The author's love for animals is obvious in Speedy: Hurled Through Havoc , and he encourages us not to get rid of their natural habitats. The only thing I dislike about the book is that small portions of it were sometimes retold at different places, for instance, the time he got the news of his father's demise. This negative aspect is minor, though, and didn't affect my rating, which is why I am rating it 5 out of 5 stars. I also did not encounter any errors while reading the book. I recommend it to those who feel that their families do not encourage their aspirations. I also recommend it to anyone who likes circuses and painting.

Well, darlin', after readin' this here review, I reckon "Speedy: Hurled Through Havoc" is definitely worth a read. The author seems to have a way with words, describin' the circus and his own personal journey in a vivid and captivatin' manner. It's a story 'bout family, perseverance, and followin' your dreams, even when the odds are against you. The author's gratitude towards those who helped him along the way is somethin' I greatly appreciate. I reckon this book deserves a solid 5 outta 5 stars.
