I agree with the author’s precept for this book that a lot of marriages are being seen as disposable nowadays, and the focus has moved away from friendship between spouses. Don't get me wrong some marriages are toxic and need to end but the author's points on friendship are still at the heart of this. There is a lot worded around God which won't appeal to everyone.

An apt and comprehensive review. I appreciated the author's candid and practical approach to exploring the complexities of marriage in 'My Spouse My Friend'. Ingiete Oyama shares valuable insights and personal anecdotes that make the book relatable and engaging. While I found some chapters to be repetitive and meandering, the book's strengths lie in its honest discussion of sensitive topics like finances, sensuality, and the importance of self-awareness in relationships. The author's commitment to presenting God as the foundation of a successful marriage is refreshing and thought-provoking. Overall, a worthwhile read for couples at any stage of their journey together.
