A family journal not only gives us a record of the family but also gives us a historical perspective of the times. It takes a lot to retrace the steps of our ancestors. I will definitely read Neil Henry's book.

Thank you for the great review.

It seems the reader genuinely enjoyed this book. The interest in family history is not one everyone shares. I do love hearing stories of the past and am intrigued by this review to read this book. Thank you for a helpful review.

"I Have Calluses on My Hands: The Life and Times of Harold Henry" by Neil Henry is an autobiography of the life of Harold Henry, the author's father. Neil collaborated with his father, Harold Henry, to record details of his life, starting with the family's ancestors. From the great grandparents' emigration from Russia and Germany to the family's current place of residence in New York, every achievement, happy moment, and even his regrets and his limitations in financial resources and academics of his early life were recorded.

The review provided valuable insights. The book appears to be distinctive, as it showcases the author's collaboration with his father to explore their family's history across multiple generations. I'm excited to dive into it and discover more about what the author brings to the table.

It looks like an interesting autobiography that traces the history of Neil, his parents, and his grandparents and their life story. While it looks interesting, I think I may skip the book as I am not a huge autobiography enthusiast. Thank you for your review!

“I Have Calluses on My Hands” by Harold Henry, edited by his son Neil, is a sincere family biography tracing their history from 19th-century ancestors to present-day New York. The book combines personal reflections, historical records, and family artifacts, making it an informative read for biography and American history enthusiasts. Thank you for an amazing review!

Since not everyone has this privilege, it should be seen as a priceless gift to be able to document your past via the lives of your ancestors. I'm curious to learn how the author perceived and valued his own past because this looks like a really intriguing story.

“I Have Calluses on My Hands: The Life and Times of Harold Henry” by Neil Henry is a memoir/biography of Neil’s family starting from his paternal and maternal great-grandparents. Neil envisioned that one day when he was old, he would need a record of his life including his family ancestors. Neil’s father Harold wrote the story and Neil then edited and augmented it for today’s readers. Harold was born in 1911; Neil was born in 1945 and his great-grandparents were born in the mid-1800s. Neil wanted this book so that when he was old, he would always be able to refresh his memory of his family history for the 100+ years before he was born. His great-grandparents came to New York from Russia, Germany and England. Harold described his life in great detail and adds credibility to the entire project that will also be shared with other descendants. I wish I had kept a written record of my family’s genealogy from the late 1800s since I spent a great amount of time with my grandparents, and they shared many family stories with me.

Thank you for your informational review. Harry is about my grandparents' age and Neil is between my mom's and my ages. That is wonderful that Harry was able to help and remember that far back and that they were able to work together. It would also help for generations to come. Sadly, some families don't gather this information or don't want to until it's too late. I'm sure those who enjoy memoirs will be glad to read this.

Hey there, I just finished this amazing book and I'm convinced it will totally connect with Neil's passion. It perfectly captures his longing to hold on to memories from his younger days. I really admire the genuine way Neil's dad, Harold, shares his life story. His sincerity shines through his words and the way he presents supporting details for the events he describes. For example, when he couldn't show a real picture of a particular object, he made sure to show a similar one, keeping the book enjoyable and trustworthy. One of the things that initially drew me to the book was the opportunity to compare old technologies and objects with their modern versions, especially cars and a particular bathtub. I also appreciated that Harold didn't just focus on his successes and happy moments, but also opened up about his regrets and limitations during his early life, which made the story even more relatable.

This is a unique presentation. In a day and age where there is a disconnect, I loved that Neil teamed up with his father and created this lovely book. The review is informative and very well-written. I could not sample the book as it was unavailable on Amazon. Congrats on BOTD

I Have Calluses on My Hands" by Neil Henry seems interesting story plot. Neil is interested to know about family history so both son and father duo records their ancestors details and everything. Well written review.
