Review of Play Golf Better Faster: The Little Golf Bag Book
Kalliope Barlis offers this brief guide to readers to help elevate them to become professionals.
She explores golf psychology with its emphasis on connecting mind and body for improved performance. With neuro-linguistic programming (NLP), Barlis teaches golfers how to use their sense organs—sight, sound, and feeling—to improve their play. These help in turning those strokes into unforgettable moments that can be used as playing aids in the future.
Apart from psychological strategies, Barlis suggests “the Swiss pattern for golfing excellence,” which consists of three different approaches aimed at improving your swing. The author emphasizes the need for deliberate practice and mastering basic skills such as aiming and alignment that translate into overall improvement. She encourages golfers throughout this book to take up practice as winners do, always setting goals that lead them toward becoming masters.
To me, the best part about "Play Golf Better Faster: The Little Golf Bag Book" is how much stress she puts on psychology in sports, especially its relation to neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) that makes sure that thought processes are aligned with body movement during games. It was interestingly practical when the author explained that employing all our sense organs, i.e., sight, sound, and touch, will immediately increase the quality of your game. It demonstrates that it is an intellectual and sensory activity rather than just physical, giving way to a holistic approach to doing better in golf as well as in life generally.
I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars simply because it is a comprehensive and practical guidebook for improving games with psychological insights and practical techniques. There is nothing I could point out as my dislike of this book. The book is perfectly edited.
This book is recommended to anyone who wishes to get results from their golfing efforts, particularly if you want to take your game into the professional ranks.
