The book "Reconfigurement" by E. Alan Fleischauer gives a new, useful way to think about retirement planning, making it helpful and interesting. What impressed me the most is that this book upholds the idea of constantly changing one's life instead of accepting traditional retirement. Fleischauer questions this one-dimensional view of retirement, where retirement is said to be only about the money. He expresses the importance of staying active, pursuing new interests, and preparing not just financially but emotionally and mentally.

The book melds humor and serious advice, making financial topics that are typically difficult and complex to read easy and fun. Fleischauer is quite blunt in this book, which makes it relatable, and he is highly knowledgeable in financial planning, making his guidance good.

I found the best aspect of this book that it argues that affordable health insurance is very important for retirees because the U.S. has an aging population. The number of older people increases faster compared with younger people, which means there is more and more need to increase healthcare, including long-term care. By 2030, one in five Americans will be over 65, raising demand and cost for services such as nursing homes.

The author writes in this book that Medicare pays for some of the costs; however, it does not cover everything, especially the long-term care. Additional insurance and government programs will provide further assistance. Overall, one should plan for healthcare costs in retirement due to high personal expenses. And it is important that understanding what is actually covered by Medicare, in particular Parts A, B, and C, is important for handling these future costs well.

It is the most important reason to give it 5 out of 5 stars. What was much more important is his emphasis on lifelong learning and that it is never too late to pursue new goals or a career. "Reconfigurement" helps readers look beyond regular retirement by building a meaningful and happy life in later years. For those who desire to take on their future and face retirement positively, this book becomes a vital reading. I have not found any dislikes in this book while reading; even the editing of the book is marvelous because it is flawless.

Conclusion from my side after reading this book: if you read it, it will help you plan a happy retirement. The authors combine money advice with ways to grow as a person. Readable, helpful, and inspiring, it urges you on toward a meaningful life after retirement.
