The book is so mysterious and makes one to be curious of what will happen next within the drama and suspense. The setting of the story is marvellous regarding a detective who got separated with her man and focuses on work.

The book sounds very promising and interesting to my ears. It is not often that I find good stories with a strong female detective that has an admirable character and is portrayed without the "usual flaws" like exaggerated sentimentality or lack of logic. I prefer to read about characters that resemble real people and this one looks just like what I might enjoy. Congrats on BOTD!

A book about industrial espionage and all the drama that ensues, including a murder and several decisive confrontations between the protagonists, would surely prove to be a fascinating read. Thanks for the great review.

“Fortune Cookie” by James Johnson is a thriller that involves corporate espionage and personal drama. Valerie is a very dedicated homicide detective who while personally dealing with her husband leaving her, she gets involved in a case involving the murder of Harry Ma, a man involved in industrial espionage. Valerie investigates the case and learns that Brandon Steele’s company, in the midst of a lawsuit for a fatal incident that occurred to an employee in Iraq, is a dangerous man involved in deceit and corporate malfeasance. This case is much more complex and the person that stole the CAD drawings and most likely killed Harry Wa. One needs to read the book to learn about the thrilling ending to this story. Valerie and her partner are focused on solving this case and this is an incredible read that keeps readers on the edge of their seats through the ending of the book. I plan to read the entire book.

I like that this is a mystery thriller, and the author skillfully presents an interesting story. The main plot captures the reader's attention from start to finish, and the subplot is the perfect icing on the cake. Some parts of the story leave me yearning for more, and the characters are fascinating. I look forward to reading more about Valerie—she seems like an intriguing character, and I'm curious to know what happened with her relationship and how it impacts her career. Thank you for the well-written review. Congratulations to the author on BOTD.

The complex characters driving this story captivate me. Mysteries and thrillers fascinate me because they defy predictability. No formulaic happy endings or neat resolutions; instead, they often leave me with chilling uncertainty or unsettling cold cases. Congrats on BOTD!
