I agree that social media does appear to be the instigator of isolation and inferiority issues and this book may explain it. The complex style of writing though will put many people off.

The review is detailed and cleared up the book's ups and downs. In other time I might be interested in this philosophical approach to mental illness, especially in this time of social media craziness. I think the book will a good read in book club for similar discussion. Congrats on BOTD

From a sampling, this seems like an interesting book discussing mental health and the history and contemporary status of mental health in society. It might be worth a second look. Well done.

This review really captures the essence of Reconceptualizing Mental Illness in the Digital Age by Elliott B. Martin, Jr. I appreciate how the reviewer delves into both the strengths and weaknesses of the book. The in-depth analysis of mental health through a psychiatric and historical lens sounds intriguing, especially as it relates to social media's role in modern mental health issues. However, I can understand the concern about the complexity of the language possibly alienating a wider audience. It's good to know that the book is well-researched and professionally edited, but I do wish, as mentioned, that the writing style were more accessible to non-experts. Overall, this review has piqued my interest in exploring the book’s insights while preparing for its challenging prose.

A great review!
You give the reader an insighted, general sight of the book of Elliott B. Martin, Jr which is a hot topic today in the world about mental health in the digital age.
You have included a lot of insight details such as this book is well reasearched of the overuse of digital tecnology that lead to mental health problems with alot of complex vocabulary, largely in psychiatric terminology and philosophic terms.
I think this is a reading-worthy book for me and anyone who want to work with large words.

I've read another of Elliott Martin's work (The Virtuous Physician), so I'm familiar with his writing. It'd be great to read his thoughts on mental health vis à vis digital technology.

“Reconceptualizing Mental Illness in the Digital Age” by Elliott B. Martin, Jr. explores mental health, history, and the impact of social media in a scholarly, well-researched manner. However, its dense writing style and complex vocabulary may challenge readers unfamiliar with psychiatric or philosophical terms. Despite this, it earns 4 out of 5 stars. Thank you for an amazing review!

This is not something that I would read. It sounds like a complicated book, not that I won't understand, but I read for fun and this does not tick the 'fun' box for me. Thanks for a great review. Congrats on BOTD.

This book seeks to resolve the situation surrounding the rise in the case of mental health, and the factors that have contributed to it. It also explores the use of psychiatric and philosophical terms to drive home information for precise understanding.

Inferiority and isolation is definitely threats that emerge from social media and especially overuse. While it's a blessing to stay in touch with family and friends who are far away, people use it for revenge, gossip and other dishonorable topics. This can ruin a person's life. Thank you for your informative review.

After reading the description of this book in reviews, I came to the conclusion that it sounds awfully like specialized literature for psychologists and psychiatrists. I personally am neither, moreover, I was never interested in studying mental issues even at an amateur level and therefore prefer to pass the book. Apologies and congratulations!

The idea of being mentally aware is one everyone has to take seriously, and although the word gets thrown around a lot, there is still much to learn and many concepts to grasp properly. I like that the author has chosen to shed more light on mental health. The author discussed mental health as a concept, researched it thoroughly to present facts, and highlighted the challenges it faces in the digital age. I look forward to reading this piece. Thanks for the detailed review and congratulations to the author on being selected BOTD.

It's a great book for people trying to maintain a mental health or those trying to understand how mental problems arise due to history or digital issues. But from the review it seems that many people may not enjoy reading the book as it has many complicated words meant mostly for philosophical or psychological students and I didn't enjoy that it the book has many words in a sentence.
