Wow, more stories like these are needed to enlighten our young ones. If they are able to identify these abused and report them immediately, we would have lesser sexual abusers on the go.

Great review! This may or may not seem odd, but I could tell just by the cover that the subject matter of this memoir would be illicit (to say the least). The image of the little girl is so innocent, but also has something very haunting about it. This setting the tone of the book straight away can work both in and out of its favor when it comes to finding readers.

Every 9 Minutes by Christina Vitagliano is a powerful and haunting memoir that delves into the traumatic experience of childhood abuse and the resilience required to overcome it. Told from the perspective of a young girl growing up under the shadow of abuse, the story unfolds with raw honesty and a voice that matures as Christina does, offering readers an intimate glimpse into the lasting scars of such trauma. Vitagliano’s storytelling is poignant and evocative, capturing the confusion, anger, and eventual strength she finds within herself. This memoir not only raises awareness about the impacts of abuse but also serves as an inspiring testament to the power of healing and self-discovery. While difficult to read at times due to its subject matter, Every 9 Minutes is an essential read for anyone looking to understand the enduring effects of abuse and the remarkable journey of reclaiming one’s life.

The complexities of unstable relationships, lifelong impacts of insensitive adult minds, and the most gruesome crime possible... The initial chapters reflect the innocence. With a sense of what to expect from the well-rendered review, this is an intense read. Appreciations to the author for choosing to write about it. Lots for many to learn.

Very well written review.

This sounds like a deeply sad yet enlightening story, capturing the devastating effects of abuse and the evolving perspective of a victim as she matures, providing profound insight into childhood trauma. It's quite difficult to bear such pain. This book serves to provide inspiration to other victims on how to deal with sexual abuse. Congrats on being BOTD!

I study psychology and have always wondered how I could connect with people who have experienced this. I feel I should read this book to have a glimpse of this experience and understand the consequences better.

:darth: :reading-3: Books like Every 9 Minutes: A Memoir not only tell a story, but they immerse us in the pain and bravery of those who lived it. It is admirable when someone finds the strength to share such traumatic experiences, and it reminds us of the importance of paying attention to and protecting the most vulnerable. Although they are challenging reads, they provide a necessary perspective on realities that many ignore or fail to see.

Congrats on BOTD!
Victims of child sexual assault can feel less alone after reading this educational book. The narrative is profoundly insightful and melancholic, portraying the disastrous consequences of abuse and the victim's changing viewpoint as she gets older. It also sheds light on the trauma experienced as a youngster.

Really good review, it really explains well the style and strengths of the book. I like the choice of different language to make the life stages feel distinct. Tho I must say, that's a very heavy and upsetting subject, specially considering it's a memoir, hope the author has all the support they need.

Every 9 Minutes" by Christina Vitagliano chronicles the author's early life as she grew up in a terrain of poverty and abuse. She had to endure sexual abuse from her stepfather who should be protecting her.
Several woman around the world are victims of sexual abuse, sometimes from very close family members.
The lives of these women are often shattered and traumatized from these abuses. The book brings to light some of the things young women endure as they grow up. The author's bold step in speaking about these crimes would encourage other women who suffered the same fate to do so.

Sexual abuse of a minor... That is one ill of our society I can't seem to stomach. It's unimaginable to think that there are sick adults who do this. Considering this is a sensitive subject, I won't be surprised to find it difficult to read this memoir by Christina Vitagliano. It'll crush me emotionally.
In "Every 9 Minutes," the author painfully recounts her early life's challenges and sexual abuse at the hands of her stepfather and how they affected her outlook, her choices, and her psyche. My heart goes out to the author and every young child out there who has experienced and still is experiencing the perils of abuse at the hands of adults who should care for and protect them. I send you comfort and pray you heal from your pain.

The topic of the book Every 9 Minutes: A Memoir is a very brave one. So many victims can use it as inspiration to come forward about their own abuse. It is unfortunate that this book was not properly edited, but luckily it doesn't hinder the reader that much.

I am touched by the protagonist's story narrated from the time she was only four years old. It's so disheartening that the perpetrator was the child's stepfather. Thanks for the review.
