'Christina’s early life is marked with frequent moving, poverty, and sexual abuse at the hands of her stepfather.'
The painful consequence of sexual abuse cannot be overemphasized. Yet, there are those who this is their of life. It saddens and angers me at the same time.

Thank you for the review. I sampled the book. My first thought was that I would hope most mothers with a daughter with a stepfather and 3 boys would have common sense to have their daughter educated on inappropriate behavior and have a bedroom door with a lock! In this story, the adults: a mother, a grandma, a doctor, and a teacher did not protect the child. Shameful. This is a book I would probably pass on because it is too sad and aggravating to read about the poor child. I think that those who do read it will come away with being educated on the horrific damage that happens to unprotected children in these types of situations.

Every 9 Minutes by Christina Vitagliano talks alot about what's happening in most people's life currently. This book gave insight on sexual abuse, worse things some adult do to children. Congrats on BOTD!

This book offers a raw and powerful look into the lasting trauma of childhood sexual abuse. What stands out is the evolution of her voice, which effectively mirrors her growth from a confused child to a more reflective adult. Nice review.

Memiors are one of my favorite genres to read. I think it's because even when it contains devastating events concerning the author's life, sexual abuse, in this case, it's somehow a healing measure to said author. I also believe that, for the readers it might help to notice certain behaviors in children, which might just save a child's life. Thanks for a great review. Congrats on BOTD.

Unfortunately there are many stepfathers and even biological fathers who abuse their children, with or without the knowledge of their mother. It's a devastating experience for a child that affects their lives dramatically. Some people never get over it, while others survive and move on to lead normal lives. Thank you for your informative review.

I commend the author for her bravery in compiling her story. I believe it will serve as a helpful tool for those who experienced or are still experiencing sexual abuse. It will also give a better outlook to parents or guardians of different ages considering the fact that the author conveyed her story in different narratives depending on the different stages of her life.

"Every 9 Minutes" seems like a deeply sad yet inspiring story capturing the author's devastating experiences of sexual abuse and poverty and her journey to overcome them. Child abuse can have dire consequences on the lives of children, and it is not easy to overcome it. I love memoirs, and I'll enjoy reading this one. Congratulations on BOTD!

The cover page is captivating. I think it's brave of Christina to share her story with the world. It's horrifying to think of the things she went through as a child. Due to the heavy themes of this book, I'll probably skip it.

I agree with your review. Christina Vitagliano’s way of showing her changing thoughts as she grows up sounds very powerful. It’s sad but important to see how the trauma affects her life and relationships over time. Thanks for the great review

I am interested because of the book's powerful narrative and evolving voice, highlighting the impact of childhood abuse. And I like because the reviewer recommends it to those interested in inspirational stories, while cautioning about explicit content.

The horrific is heartbreakingly interwoven with the mundane by Vitagliano. Chilling contrasts of abuse hidden inside seamed descriptions of 70s toys, family meals, or school events. The chill in this comes from the fact that it's just so ordinary.

For any author to write their memoir has to be such a soul-bearing experience. Christina's life has been filled with some traumatic and bad moments that she details in this book. Congrats to the author for having the BOTD.

I like how the author has talked about she grew up especially the abuse part and how it affected her relationships in life something that happens today. she has also talked of how difficult it's for children to report abuse something we always judge people for like why couldn't they report atleast she clarified it. I would like to try it.

The book gives a little bit into what the mind of a child who has been having trauma looks like. Heartbreaking and heartbreaking: her attempts to rationalize her father’s actions or her belief that children’s silence saves their mother are heartbreaking.
