I would recommend this book to someone with a strong mind and a bigger heart. This means they should be able to stomach the reality of what was there in the historical times. As everyone else has put it, someone who enjoys reading historical fiction.

I will recommend this book to adults, as it contains some strong themes, sexual content, and profanity. It makes for an enjoyable read, and I believe all adults who like drama, and humor mixed with romance will find it interesting.

I would recommend this story who enjoy romance novels with emotional depth and complexity. It's perfect for those who appreciate character-driven stories that delve into themes of personal growth, healing, and the intricacies of human relationships. Fans of contemporary romance who are looking for a narrative that balances heartfelt moments with psychological insight will likely find this book engaging. Additionally, readers who enjoy stories about overcoming past trauma and navigating the challenges of trust and vulnerability will connect deeply with the characters and their journeys.

Hi

I recommend it to a target audience over 21 and the reader should love historical fiction and romance novels. The history of racism is present in the book and reader should be open to black history culture.

Readers who enjoy historical fiction will enjoy this book. In addition, open-minded readers who are not easily offended by certain topics will also enjoy it. It did not seem to me that this book is narrow in scope. It seems that anybody can read it regardless of their religion, political affiliation, gender, etc. Did anyone find the book not suitable for a particular group or audience?

I would recommend Deceptive Calm to readers who enjoy historical romance with some drama and mystery, those interested in the American history surrounding the Civil Rights Movement, and those who are not sensitive to heavy subject matters.

For those interested in topics related to social injustice and discrimination, this book is ideal.  For individuals who are interested in American history, the numerous allusions to relevant information will be relatable.  However, it is suitable for an adult audience due to the explicit sexual content.

I would recommend it to my niece-in-law. She was born and raised in South Carolina, and still lives there. I think she would definitely enjoy the historical aspect of the book. Plus, the book starts in 1968 - the year she was born!
