We need to understand addiction as a multifactorial problem, and we need to know that it doesn't only affect the addicts themselves. I'm so sorry we lost Mike, but I hope his story can help the families going through something similar. Thank you for your review.

The book was about insight into faith, spirituality, and it really awakened me. Linda’s reliance on her faith helped her to keep her chin up and it also shows us the importance of seeing someone through when you might need to be seen through.

The review of “Dear Heroine” by Kelsey Fulton is a good review. I’m sure just from the sample that this book is powerful and moving. Addiction is not just hard on the addict and their family, it is also hard on the community and world at large. But we rarely see such a personal story told in such an open way.

A book about the eternal power of mother's love. Although there’s a heartbreak and a squandered frustration on every page, Linda’s love for her son shines forth on every other. It’s a reminder that love grows ever stronger in that darkest of times.

Indeed it is true that dealing with recovery truly affects the entire family. It's not only the person in recovery but also the family members involved are usually heartbroken to see one of them going through a lot and at times they cannot help. It's easy to relate with this novel and thanks for the author for writing it.

Morrison's son Mike's terrible addiction is chronicled in Dear Heroin: A Memoir of Goodbyes. Many people will identify with the book's sad examination of addiction as a family disease and the toll it takes on the addict as well as their loved ones. Congrats on BOTD.

What's not to like about this book's portrayal by the review?
"Dear Heroin" by Linda Morrison tells of a mother's pure love and loss. The story is evocative as readers are brought into the world of substance abuse and addiction and its devastating effects. We see and feel Linda Morrison's desperation in fighting for her son's life as he sought relief both through and from heroin.
Do you want to learn of the final years of Mike's life, with vivid accounts of sweet everyday memories and the distressing tensions between mother and son? Then, grab a copy of this nostalgic story and read along.

It's always a heartbreaking experience to lose a dear person to whatever the cause may be. Thank you very much, Linda, for sharing your memoir "Dear Heroin: A Memoir of Goodbyes" with us. One thing I've learnt from your book is that treatment is not usually required only for the addict but also for their their loved ones. This is quite crucial. Thank you for the review.

Memoirs are not my cup of tea but the review is very well written. The book seems very heartwarming and at the same time emotionally difficult dwelling on such topics like drugs and suicide. I'm sure the book will find its reader. Congratulations on becoming BOTD!
