What does it mean to be free while living in a foreign country far from home? I bet you're asking yourself that question now. In this book, we meet Ali Master, an immigrant from Pakistan who moved to America as a student at the University of Texas at Arlington. His university days came with their own challenges, and he found himself in a mind-shocking situation. However, by God's grace, he met a woman called Judy, and through her came a great transformation that didn't only impact his life but his faith as well. Read the book Beyond the Golden Door by Ali Master to find out more.

The discussions about the several freedoms the author has experienced while in America are what I liked most about this book. These freedoms include the freedom to self-govern, freedom to love, freedom to religion, and freedom to fail, among others. Being in a foreign country will obviously cause one to make a comparison between their home country and the country they have immigrated to. Ali Master, as an immigrant, also made comparisons in culture, education, religion, work ethics, and politics between America and Pakistan. He discusses the above comparisons, highlighting his own personal experience.

Another thing worth mentioning is also the author's courage. I admired his courage mostly when it came to him changing from being a Muslim to a Christian. Ali Master was raised as a Muslim, but after he meets Judy, he is influenced to join the Christian faith. His choice to become a Christian, however, isn't based on his love for her but on his calling from God. This is what made me think of him as a very courageous person.

I have no dislikes for this book and truly enjoyed it. I also didn't encounter any errors while reading, and for this reason, I will rate it 5 out of 5 stars. I recommend it to anyone interested in knowing about what it means to live in America as an immigrant.

Wow! Ali seems to have taken a lot of bold steps; first moving from his country, and second falling in love with a Christian girl, and finally converting to Christianity. That is quite a journey. Somehow I feel that it is both Ali's courage and the freedom that America offers that made it possible.
