I am intrigued by the idea that one's present frame of mind and belief system can be traced back to one's childhood. So the task now is to stop believing some of the negative ideas. I look forward to reading the book.

Taking caution from ones experiences is something many people do with the whole "once beaten twice shy". It will be interesting to read why and how these negative beliefs and past memories limit one's progress in the future. Thank you for the great review.

I fully support the concept of taking full responsibility for one's own life. Nobody can change you, only you can decide to change. Case studies and the author's personal experiences are powerful tools to promote authenticity. Thank you for your informative review.

There was a light finally turned on in a dark room. I began to realize how those old childhood "vows"– words I never said I could make them, words that I didn’t even realize I was holding onto– were actually how my present day reality felt.

I am quite confused by what purpose the content of this book must serve, because in my opinion, the concept doesn't sound very scientific and looks more like speculation and assumptions. I am not convinced in the usefulness of this theory by the description provided and will have to pass the book. Still, congratulations on BOTD!

“You Made It Up, Now Stop Believing It” by Kathi Sohn is a self-help guide that has a unique theory on how our bodies store memories starting with when we were in the womb. People with low self-esteem can trace this back to a vow made at a very young age in response to a personal experience. These vows are promises we make to ourselves when we respond to a traumatic experience, and these vows can be positive or negative. As a result, negative vows may prevent us from living our lives to the fullest and need to be removed from our subconscious. This is a well-written easy to read book and all readers should benefit from reading it. I was amazed that babies retain memories that can affect them for the rest of their lives.

It's great that Kathi Sohn provides readers with the knowledge that some mental issues like anxiety could have started as early as infancy. It's also great that she provided exercises for readers to implement.
