Trouble Finds Little Miss Perfect by Shelley Noel is a vital memoir that addresses an essential issue in the modern world: how women can be tricked into an abusive marriage and how difficult it is to leave. After finding her supposed Prince Charming, who spoiled her with endless gifts, a traditional Texas woman finds herself at a crossroads when her wealthy multimillionaire husband is indicted on a real estate investment scheme. The judge sentenced her husband, Chad, to pay $29 million in restitution and serve 45 years in prison, leaving the family in shock.

What I liked most about this book was that the author didn't hide anything or try to embellish the facts. She showed how a narcissistic and authoritarian man can be convincing, lie, and create an intimidating psychological environment that will inevitably ruin some women's lives. She wasn't ashamed to say how long she was deceived or point out all the opportunities and friendships she lost because she decided to continue in this abusive relationship. The analysis of the facts in retrospect was also very well done, and she pointed out the various red flags that can help many women in similar situations. Besides, the book's editing is flawless, and I couldn't find a single grammatical error.

What I think could have been written differently, although it is not a significant flaw, was the role of religion in overcoming the traumatic events in the author's life. From the middle of the book onwards, the author tells how she rediscovered God in her life, but she doesn't go into much more depth beyond a few sentences saying that God provided calm in decisive moments. I would have liked to see more emphasis on this aspect of her life.

Overall, Trouble Finds Little Miss Perfect is an awe-inspiring, enlightening, and remarkable book. The author demonstrated great moral courage and, in describing the events of her life, created a gem that will help many women worldwide. Since the problem mentioned in the paragraph above is more a matter of personal taste than a flaw, the book deserves 5 out of 5 stars.

I recommend this book to women in a relationship who are unsure if they want to take the next step. The author has created a brilliant book that presents several red flags that, if identified in time, can save women from many headaches. Since the book contains several swear words, I do not recommend it to anyone under 18.

"Trouble Finds Little Miss Perfect" is a powerful memoir that sheds light on the complexities of abusive relationships. The author’s honest account of her experiences and the red flags she identifies provides invaluable insights for women facing similar situations. While a deeper exploration of the role of faith would have added more depth, the book’s clarity and flawless editing make it a must-read. Highly recommended for those navigating relationship uncertainties.
