"The Magician's Secret" by Charles Townsend is a fast-paced mystery that I was so impressed with the official review and sample that I purchased this book and the next two books in the series. Delvin is the main character and he has been totally into magic since he first saw a magic show. He was learning magic from Borlock and they had become very good friends. Delvin found Borlock stabbed in his room and suddenly everyone shouted that Delvin did it. Did Delvin kill Borlock, his magician teacher and the person he admires the most or was he framed? He was tried by the elders and they agreed he was not guilty after they tried to hang him and the hangman’s rope unraveled.

Delvin left town with his friend and heads for the big city where he would become a magician while his friend became a groom. A few weeks later Delvin leaves with Princess Jarla and Fionella on an adventure to save Hengel from war. One needs to read the book to find out what happens to Delvin and his friends. This is an excellent book and I recommend the series.

The author effectively kept readers engaged, with an apt pictorial representation of the bygone era. The story was compelling, subtly highlighting the stark divide between the elite and the poor. Even virtue alone was insufficient to secure a place among the wealthy—a contrast that was made clear.

The author takes readers through a world of political intrigue and magical warfare through the story of Delvin, a man accused of murdering his mentor. To Delvin's relief, his mentor wakes up and reveals the identity of his attacker. The story has interesting twists and fans of fantasy stories will enjoy the magical aspect.

Finding characters with some depth can be hard, especially in fantasy worlds. But it sounds like in The Magician's Secret, Charles Townsend succeeded in this entreprise while managing to write a compelling world full of adventure and magic. The review is a nice one: I can't wait to read the book now!

This is a charming and captivating book by Charles Townsend. The magical aspects fascinate me the most because I love books about magic. I find this book especially alluring and would love to explore the adventures of Delvin and his companions as they confront the dark magical world and the mysterious man in black. Huge congratulations on BOTD! This is a wonderful review—great job!

I'm intrigued by this book and curious about the dangerous object the man in black wants from Borlock, which prompted accusing Delvin.

"The Magician's Secrets" seems intriguing and compelling to see magic is used as a tool for examining ethical dilemmas when it is in the right hands. Delvin finds himself in incredible situations, but what is important is that he helps avert war. Congratulations on BOTD!

In this mystery tale, Delvin Farmhand faces dark magic and political intrigue. Townsend expertly examines the consequences of magic in the wrong hands. Congrats on BOTD.

This book offers a rich exploration of the ethical challenges tied to wielding power, especially through Delvin’s internal struggle with his ability to control others’ minds. His conflict highlights the novel's message that true strength lies not just in having power, but in choosing to use it responsibly. Nice review.

The Magician's Secret offers a compelling blend of action and moral inquiry, showing how power, especially magical power, can be both alluring and dangerous. Townsend’s thoughtful portrayal of Delvin’s internal struggles and ethical choices adds depth to the story, making it not just an adventure, but a reflection on responsibility and integrity.
