:techie-studyingbrown: Rosie’s bravery is astonishing! The fact that she even wants to take a leap and find her real family is scary. There’s a chance she might not like what she is met with. I would read this book to find out her point of view. Congrat BOTD

I really appreciate how honest and open Rosie is in this book. She doesn’t shy away from the tough parts of finding her birth family, and it makes her journey feel so real. It’s not just a fairy tale reunion but a complex, emotional experience that feels relatable

Norman-Neubauer's memoir shows that through openness and understanding, even the most fractured families can find healing.
- It's always good to weigh the pros and cons of adoption before adopting a child. Family and relatives will always be against it but if the adoptee is confident of answering the questions of the adopted child after he or she asks, after they have grown to the age of wanting to know, then adoptees should adopt. This book seems to offer that and I am fascinated. Thank you for an interesting and informative review.

A journey of self-discovery, uncovering one's origin and reuniting with birth families after being adopted as an infant is the highlight of this emotional memoir.
In "Finding Closure," Rosie Norman-Neubauer struggle with questions of identity that have lingered since childhood.
She offers solace in shared experiences of displacement, longing, and the complexity of forging new bonds after broken ones.
It's worth giving your time!

This is such a lovely review. I know several women who adopted children; I only know about the feelings involved from the parent's side. This book explores the feelings from the child's side. It looks like an emotional read.

I can understand why Rosie felt the need to research her roots and find her birth family despite the care she received from her adoptive family. I hope she finally got she closure she needed after she found her birth family.

I don't get it. Maybe it is just me, but I never saw any sense in imposing on people who want nothing to do with someone. I have enough pride to ignore them in turn. Therefore, I don't understand why the author would trouble herself to undertake the "journey to uncover her origins and reunite with her birth family" that toss her aside as a child. To spit in their face? Where's your dignity? We grow up to become who we are because of upbringing, not genetics, so there's no need to humiliate yourself by crawling back to people who wanted nothing to do with her for decades in search of "identity".

“Finding Closure” by Rosie Norman-Neubauer is a memoir of Rosie’s journey to uncover her birth mother and family after she was adopted as an infant. Rosie was raised in a middle-class family in England. She enjoyed having the opportunities provided she was never comfortable living with her adoptive parents. At age 55, Rosie decides to research her ancestry and her digital searching enables her to contact long-lost relatives which enabled her to launch a quest for closure. The sample was good and explained more about Rosie’s family. I can understand why she wanted to find her birth parents. Her adoptive parents were Caucasians born in England, while she was of color and believed she looked Pakastani. Rosie wanted to meet her birth parents and learn why they gave her up. She had a wonderful life with her adoptive parents and her adopted brother. I will need to read the book to find out if she finds her adoptive parents and finds the closure she is seeking.

One thing I like about this review is how it highlights the author’s “raw honesty,” making the memoir feel deeply personal and relatable.

In every way, family comes first and it is amazing to unite with one's family just as Rosie Norman-Neubauer has done. Nice review!
