What a great book Rosie!
This an emotional book, tracing a heartfeeling life from adoption state to a reunion to the family which is a very sensitive time for someone who grew up away from parents and sublings. The emotions of reuniting with close relatives are very good moments but the expectations for Rosie didn't meet all that she had waited for because what may be desappointing as she narrates is reality does not always live up to hopes and expectations.
This book is extended on a life made troubled by displacements and familiy dislocations and a family reunification later after decades.
Thanks to Rosie for the book.

This doesn't seem to be a book that I would enjoy but I like your review. It is so detailed.

I don't think adoption is always so moonlight and rose like some people make it out to be. Especially when siblings are involved, as I think there's always that seperation gap somehow. It would be nice to have an inside view from an adoptive child. That is for a detailed review. Congrats on BOTD.

This book seems very emotional. The journey of searching for her birth parents can't be easier, especially because she was adopted at birth. I'm curious to find out the process she followed after 55 years.

I agree with the official reviewer's statement that at times, the pursuit of closure actually shatters established illusions, I think to the extent of one questioning whether the feat was worth it. Thank you for the review.

A great memoir by Rosie Norman-Neubauer. It’s often seen as unappreciative, but it’s natural for an adopted child to want to explore and discover the biological roots he or she comes from—and it's no different for Rosie here. While thankful for the opportunities provided, deeper questions nag at her: who were her birth parents? This seems like a hooking book, and I would love to read it. Huge congrats on BOTD!

Adopted at birth, Norman-Neubauer was raised in a stable middle-class home in Berkhamsted, England. But one thing was always there, which was to discover her real roots, her real family, and although thankful to her family that adopted her, it didn't deter her from eventually going for the search years later. What an exciting and fantastic book this is, and I congratulate the author profoundly for it.
